Series consists of research materials collected by Dr. Roland during research for his book, Courage under Siege: Starvation, Disease, and Death in the Warsaw Ghetto, 1992. The majority of materials pertain to the clandestine medical school and health in the Warsaw Ghetto. Included are first-hand accounts, memoirs, translated articles, and notes written by Roland. Translated articles are in Polish and German, appearing in six and two files respectively.

Series consists of research materials collected by Dr. Roland while researching Prisoners of War in the Second World War. Dr. Roland intended to write a book to match Long Night’s Journey, but it did not come to fruition prior to his passing. Included in this series are copies of contemporary documents, play scripts from POW camps, post-war accounts, copies of diaries, and translated articles. Translated articles include two from original German, and one from Russian.

Included are materials related to the Hannah Chair search committee, the Greater Hamilton Health Sciences Museum Committee, the McGregor Clinic, a memoir written about C. Barber Mueller, questionnaire results regarding the Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order implementation in Hamilton hospitals (1977-1985), and other materials related to early 20th century medicine in Hamilton.

Object is a reproduction POW parcel box produced by the RAF Ex-POW Association in 1977.

Martin, Louis B. Jacques, and Paul Thorlakson. A substantial amount of publications by Thorlakson are included in this series, either in the form of offprints or reproductions. Textual volume is an English translation of selections from Michael Joseph Ahern’s publications on the history of medicine in Quebec (Notes pour servir a l’histoire de la medicine…).

However, Dr. Roland passed away before completing this work. Interviews are arranged alphabetically according to surname.
