File consists of materials created and collected by Chisholm documenting the history, life and death, and memorial services for Masumi Mitsuke. Masumi Mitsuke was a decorated Japanese Canadian veteran who fought in the First World War. During the Second World War, Mitsuke and other Japanese Canadians were taken and held in Canadian internment camps due to national security concerns, rising prejudices and growing distrust of Japanese people after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The records reflect the discriminatory actions towards Japanese Canadians, and the events that unfolded for Masumi Mitsuke and his family during, and after the Second World War. Included are memorial and remembrance service programs ministered by Chisholm, honoring the life of Mitsuke; and newspaper clippings collected by Chisholm detailing the history of Mitsuke in the First and Second World Wars, Mitsuke's achievements, and his death on April 22, 1987.
