File consists primarily of material relating to Francis Chisholms education and training endeavors while working at Chedoke Hospital in Hamilton. A small number of records relate to Chisholm's supervisor for pastoral training, Rev. A. J. MacLachlan. Included is a document typewritten by Chisholm titled "What Are My Reasons to Enter Training for Assistant Supervision?"; pamphlets from 1964-1992 listing the courses in Clinical Pastoral Training at McMaster University, offered by the Centre for Continuing Education; correspondence letters with McMaster University admissions for Clinical Pastoral Training; a biographical sketch typewritten by Chisholm in 1964, detailing his educational history from 1948-1959; a letter written by Rev. G.E. Elliot in 1965 remarking on Chisholm's work and training during his first year as chaplain at the Hamilton Health Association; an associate member certificate issued in 1966 to Chisholm from the Canadian Council for Supervised Pastoral Education; a letter from the Canadian Council for Supervised Pastoral Education asking for forms of completed courses and training in 1967; a certificate from the Canadian Council of Churches Committee on Certification of Chaplains in Public Institutions, issued in 1971; a brochure highlighting services offered by the library at Chedoke Hospital in 1973; a list of Continuing Education programs attended by Chisholm from 1980-1982; a pamphlet documenting the Merck Conference attended by Chisholm on "Chronic Pain: Being Practical About Psychological Treatment" in 1981; records related to Chisholms supervisor Rev. A. J. MacLachlan for the Supervised Pastoral Education program; and a report written by Chisholm in 1983 titled "A Proposal for Chaplaincy/Pastoral Services in the Redevelopment Plan for Chedoke Hospital Division" for the course "A Multidisciplinary Approach to Rehabilitation" offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences at Mohawk College. Also included are class photographs from 1961 and 1964 of McMaster University Extension students; and an article written by Rev. Walter Loader titled "What is Clinical Pastoral Training?".

Included are annual and seasonal reports and proposals for the Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care Department; invitations and agendas for the Chaplain and Community Clergy meetings; agendas for Pastoral Services meetings with the Executive Director to discuss new hires; invitation and agendas for the Chaplaincy Services Advisory Committee; a newsletter and reports for the Volunteer Association; lists of Chaplaincy Services Educational Programs; lists of Hospital Chaplains in Hamilton; program agendas for new film showings of "The Disability Myth" and "The Last Days of Living"; "Thank You" letters and correspondence relating to Chisholm's administrative activities; a memo on Days of Observance; and a memo on audio visual equipment relocation for service use.

File consists primarily of material relating to the spiritual care provided to patients by Chisholm and other members of the chaplaincy service. Included are typewritten reflections made by Chisholm regarding care at Chedoke Hospital; a hospital chaplaincy card with contact information for Chisholm; a form filled out by a patient requesting holy communion; a pamphlet on "What Am I Going To Do? Guidelines for the Bereaved"'; a program pamphlet for "Pastoral Care of the Continuing Care Patient"; a program pamphlet for "Coping with Cancer"; a letter from Angela Kidd, a Nurse Manager at Chedoke Hospital, with a corresponding news article, thanking Chaplaincy Services for supporting the family of victims of a motor vehicle accident; a newspaper clipping documenting a trip to Florida for continuing care patients, which was funded by an anonymous donation; a newspaper clipping documenting the life of Dennis Rose, who was a patient of the continuing care section of Chedoke Hospital; a newspaper clipping documenting a patient of the continuing care section, Harold Sheperd, putting an ad in the classified section to find companionship; and newspaper clippings documenting the redevelopment of Chedoke Hospital to better care for patients. Also included is various hymns and prayers used for the pastoral care of patients.

File consists of records relating to Francis Chisholm's role as the minister overseeing the operation and administration of the Ellen Wanless Ewart Memorial Chapel at Chedoke Hospital. Included is a pamphlet from 1964 detailing the opening of the chapel which also includes the history of its naming, and a description of the physical aspects of the chapel; a pamphlet from 1965 detailing the induction of Chisholm as minister of the chapel; a pamphlet pertaining to the "Dedication of the Organ" for the chapel from 1971; correspondence from 1976 relating to the repair of the alter curtains within the chapel; a list of items gifted to the chapel in 1980; and a note from Edith Jackson documenting the donation of hymn books to the chapel by Bonnie McTavish and Greg Holbin. Also included is a document written by Chisholm in 1990 recounting the history of the chapel, it's uses, and potential changes to the chapel in response to a proposed redevelopment plan for Chedoke Hospital.

File consists of invitations and programs for the annual Ellen Ewart Wanless Memorial service, held in the Ellen Ewart Wanless Chapel. Chisholm held this memorial service to honor Ellen Ewart Wanless who died February 28, 1962. Ellen Ewart Wanless was Director of Nursing at the Mountain Sanatorium from 1932-1962.

Fonds consists of records relating to Francis Chisholm's educational and professional activities as a minister while employed at Chedoke Hospital (formerly Mountain Sanatorium) from 1964-1991, as well as a small amount of material pertaining to Chisholms services at the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital as well as the Hamilton General Hospital from 1988-2000. Included is brochures, correspondence, invitations, leaflets, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, photographs, reports, sermon notes, a business card, a certificate, and a proposal document. Records cover such topics as pastoral care and services, chapel inductions and operations, pastoral training, and includes material related to the topic of spiritual care for patients afflicted with tuberculosis.

File consists of material documenting Francis Chisholm's ministerial activities at the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital (HPH) and the Hamilton General Hospital. Included is an invitation from 1988 announcing the dedication and blessing of the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital Chapel/Worship Center; a pamphlet from 1991 detailing the "Dedication of the Chapel" for the Hamilton General Hospital Chapel; an information pamphlet for the Pastoral Services Department at the HPH which includes information on the purpose of the department, staffing, training, and services; a memo written by Chisholm that contains information on the history of the HPH Chapel, donations and gifts to the chapel, as well as upcoming services and events held at the chapel; and a letter of understanding regarding new management of the hospital from St. Josephs Hospital. Also included is a photograph taken in 1998 showcasing the chapel's physical space and interfaith symbols; a photograph of a community gathering in the chapel in 1999; and a photograph showing a trifold board with information on Pastoral Services offered at HPH from 2000.

Included is a newspaper clipping with advice on overcoming stigma surrounding TB; a newspaper clipping documenting a case of TB from a student at McKay Hall at McMaster University; a newspaper clipping documenting TB cases and deaths in the Hamilton-Wentworth region in 1989; a newspaper clipping documenting a dispute on treatment for TB; a newspaper clipping with an obituary of Margaret Hastings who died of TB in 2002; a newspaper clipping from 1989 documenting an opinion piece on Hamilton and Canadas involvement with relocating and treating Inuit; a newspaper clipping documenting the creation and reveal of an Inuit Memorial for those who died from TB; and a newspaper clipping recalling a Christmas event for Inuit TB patients in 1958.

File consists of materials created and collected by Chisholm documenting the history, life and death, and memorial services for Masumi Mitsuke. Masumi Mitsuke was a decorated Japanese Canadian veteran who fought in the First World War. During the Second World War, Mitsuke and other Japanese Canadians were taken and held in Canadian internment camps due to national security concerns, rising prejudices and growing distrust of Japanese people after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The records reflect the discriminatory actions towards Japanese Canadians, and the events that unfolded for Masumi Mitsuke and his family during, and after the Second World War. Included are memorial and remembrance service programs ministered by Chisholm, honoring the life of Mitsuke; and newspaper clippings collected by Chisholm detailing the history of Mitsuke in the First and Second World Wars, Mitsuke's achievements, and his death on April 22, 1987.

File consists of material primarily relating to Francis Chisholm's work ministering to patients afflicted with tuberculosis while at the Mountain Sanatorium (later Chedoke Hospital). File consists of a bibliography of tuberculosis related publications, a document pertaining to "Understanding the TB Patient", and a document written by Chisholm titled "Ministering to the Tuberculosis Patient." Also included is a typewritten document by Chisholm with the history and information on "Christmas Seals" which were sold to support the Sanatorium with it's efforts at caring and treating patients afflicted with tuberculosis.
