Historia administrativa

The McMaster Medical Student Council (MMSC) is an elected group of students who organize academic and non-academic events to complement the undergraduate medical program. The MMSC serves the needs of medical students within the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Through the formation of interest groups, promotion of volunteer opportunities, and funding of research events, the MMSC strives to provide students the opportunity to explore the many aspects of medicine in order to enhance their overall learning experience. Various MMSC committees are tasked with planning and organizing events such as blood drives, memorials, community fundraisers and volunteer opportunities for students, as well as collecting materials for the School of Medicine yearbook and the MMSC newsletter, The Placebo.

Arreglo

Originally a subfonds within the Faculty of Health Sciences fonds, but has been made it's own fonds as it is a separate student led organization. Arrangement mostly follows arrangement identified by a previous archivist. Series names and order have been changed to better reflect content in the series. A "Newsletter and guides" series was also created (this material was removed out of the previous "Events" series). The former "Publications" series has been removed to better reflect provenance.

    Nota general

Correspondence with the VP of Communications for the McMaster Medical Student Council has provided contextual information that publications originally included in the fonds are not affiliated with the MMSC. These publications include the Meducator (various issues from 2005-2020) and the McMaster University Medical Journal (MUMJ) (various issues from 2003-2013). These publications were incorporated into the Health Sciences Library journal collections. Duplicate material has been removed.
