The subseries consists of correspondence related to the formation of this section, agendas, minutes, annual reports and reports to council, meeting invitations, correspondence, section membership questionnaires, invitations and guest lists for social events hosted by the section, financial statements, promotional brochures of the section, and event planning material for the section's annual Women's Health Day and Elizabeth Bagshaw Memorial Lecture including correspondence, application to the College of Family Physicians of Canada for the approval of course or program for study credits for continuing study requirements, press releases, event brochures listing the schedule, speakers and topics, financial statements and reports, event topic abstracts, and planning committee minutes.

      General note

      The Section of Women Physicians was organized in 1978 to function as a forum for discussion of problems unique to women physicians, to act as role models for female medical students and residents, and to provide professional development for female practitioners. The precursor to this section was the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hamilton Academy of Medicine.

      General note

      The first Elizabeth Bagshaw Memorial Lecture organized by the Academy’s Section of Women Physicians was held on March 17, 1983; below lists the guest lecturers and their topics.

      The first Women’s Health Day was held in 1984 during the second Elizabeth Bagshaw Lecture with the day’s theme “Every Body’s Busy Ness”. Then, the Elizabeth Bagshaw Lecture became apart of the annual Women's Health Day.
